lyrics

I wake up in the morning
I want the day to be over.
I see your face in the sky
and on the wings of the plover.
I haven’t been this upset
since last October
when I found out you were gone.
The last of the moths
(the ones that weren’t crushed)
have found a quiet place to die.
You wear them like a mask.
A delicate layer between the two of us.
And now you’re under water
and slowly the mask lifts.
It floats to the surface.
It begins to fall apart.
And I pick the pieces out of the tub.
And I eat every single one.
